The Val des Terres Everest Walking Challenge is back for 2025 in aid of Les Bourgs Hospice.
It's been hugely successful for local causes since 2019, therefore the challenge returns in January 2025, after a break in 2024.
The great mountain stands at an impressive 8848 metres above sea level, making it the highest point on planet Earth. To amass that elevation, participants must climb Guernsey's most challenging hill, traversing this a mightily impressive 115 times in total over the period of 30 days.
The challenge begins on 1st January and all single and team entrants can start anytime in January. The event culminates at the end of February.
The challenge circuit:
Climb Le Val des Terres, turn right at the summit to go down George Road, turn right opposite the Dorset Arms and proceed to the base at the bottom of Havelet. This is then repeated 115 times (in either direction) in the allocated 30 days.
The circuit/lap is 1 mile long and takes on average 15-20 minutes per lap.
