Property owners in Alderney could soon no longer have to pay to connect buildings to the island's mains drains.
Currently, there is a £500 charge for connecting new homes, £1,000 for commercial premises, and £2000 for hotels.
But the States of Alderney says in the last two years the charges haven't brought in any income, and the decades-old law has hindered progress in getting properties moved onto the mains sewage system.
Many properties in Alderney still use their own cesspits which are regularly emptied by States Works.
The island's Policy & Finance Committee will give States Members a vote on whether to repeal the law.
