Biggest field yet for Guernsey Rally

Visitors from Jersey and the UK are among the 38 cars lined up to tackle Guernsey's twisting country lanes in the 2025 Rally.

Dry roads, sunshine and a clear night await the competitors.

The rally is run over several stages, each raced several times to come to a total of 58 miles.

It begins at lunchtime at L'Eree. This is a generally fast coastal route but the section around Lihou headland is narrow and twisty.

Stage 1 ends on the relatively straight section beneath the shingle bank.

Rally chair Karl Marshall says he is pleased with the number and quality of the entries:

"This is the most we've ever had. There are 15 from further afield, mainly Jersey, it's looking good."

The night time stages are in the north, at Vaugrat and Chouet.

Saturday's racing focuses on two testing inland stages around the reservoir and central St Andrews, plus the ascent and descent of Petit Bot Valley.

Karl Marshall says organising the Rally is complex:

"It's taken over a year this time. There was a lot of consultation with the States, including Traffic, the Environment Committee,  Agriculture and Countryside and also La Societe. There's a lot of work in the background."

Those watching are asked to stick to the designated spectator areas.

Karl Marshall says ensuring everything runs smoothly involves many volunteers:

"We've got about 80 marshalls, the officials from the UK and local officials. There'll probably be about 120 people actually helping out, with time keepers and everything. It is a massive, massive event."
