Covid Case Detected From Unknown Source

Guernsey has another case of coronavirus, less than 24 hours after returning to zero known active infections.

Public Health says it was identified late yesterday, but the origin of it is currently unknown.

Dr Nicola Brink says it is unusual to pick up a case where the source is not immediately obvious - but that the track and trace team has robust processes in place and it 'should not be long' before the exact details are established.

An employer connected to the positive case has chosen to close its office.

"I am aware that an employer associated with the positive case identified has chosen to close their office in line with their own policies. I respect the fact that companies have their own policies and procedures regarding COVID-19." - Dr Brink

Public Health says the track and trace team, along with the majority of the Public Health Services Team, is current concentrating on identifying, testing and isolating contacts of this positive case.

"If you are identified as a potential contact you will be contacted by the Track and Trace Team. If you have not been contacted, please DO NOT contact the Public Health, Clinical or Non-Clinical helpline to try and obtain more information and advice as this will impede our investigations around this case."

It comes just a day after Guernsey returned to no known active cases of Covid-19.
