The highly experienced Olympian was part of Team GB's bronze winning Dressage Team at Chateau de Versailles.

Carl Hester has added a further bronze medal to his collection of a previous bronze won in Tokyo, a silver at Rio and gold in London.

Riding his seventh games, he was the most experienced Olympian of the three strong dressage team that took third spot in the Grand Prix Special on 3 August.

Hester, on his horse Fame, was accompanied by Charlotte Fry and Becky Moody. Fry went on to win an individual bronze in Sunday's competition.

Team GB scored a combined 232.492% to place behind Denmark in silver and Germany, who won gold.

Following Sunday's event, in which Hester finished sixth, the 57 year old said he would not be trying to compete in Los Angeles in 2028.

“It was probably the best freestyle I’ve ever done. Why should I not retire after that? There’s two ways of looking at it. Either I’m getting better or I should get out now before it all goes downhill.”

A star-studded crowd was at Versailles to witness Hester's final Olympics, including actor Ryan Gosling and dressage fan Snoop Dogg, dressed in full equestrian kit.
