Gatwick Slots Could Be Leased Out

Slots operated by Aurigny could be sold or leased to other airlines.

It's an idea under consideration by the States Trading Supervisory Board. It's calling for a review of Aurigny's mandate, which will look at the possibility of reducing services on the states-owned airline.

14,000 fewer passengers used the route in the past year. The Gatwick route is profitable and these profits are used to partially offset loses on regional routes such as Bristol and Manchester.

The STSB wants to see if there would be an appetite to sell or lease some of the airline's Gatwick slots, while bearing in mind they must be used for at least 80% of the time to be guaranteed for the following year.
