A special raised viewing area will be available for the war time generation to sit and view the parade or cavalcade for the 75th Anniversary of Liberation Day.
The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture are inviting applications for seats from people who were either, a World War 2 Veteran, a resident in the island during occupation or an evacuee.
The seating area will be next to the Guernsey Information Centre and there are two sessions available during the morning and afternoon.
There are 2 sessions available:
Session 1 – To view the Parade 9am – 11am
Session 2 – To view the Cavalcade 1.30pm – 5pm
Applications for tickets, (one per household) can be made by the individual themselves or by a family member/carer on their behalf via email with the closing date for email applications on 14 March.
Applicants should email Heidi Sandy at heidi.sandy@mourant.com with the following information:
Name, Date of Birth, Address, Email, (of both the applicant and the family member or carer).
Please also answer the following questions:
Is a wheel chair space required or a seat on the stand?
Are you a blue badge holder?
Are you a World War 2 veteran, or a resident during the occupation or an evacuee?
Which session would you like to attend, session 1 or session 2?
Those without email can call, no later than 14 March, on 01481 739306 for tickets on the following dates/times:
- Monday 2 March to Thursday 5 March call between 5.30pm – 7.30pm
- Monday 10 March to Friday 13 March call between 5.30pm – 7.30pm
- Saturday 14 March call between 10am – 2pm
As there are a limited number of seats and wheel chair spaces available, priority will be given to those less mobile. One family member or carer will be invited to stand alongside the seating area to watch the parade or cavalcade. Successful applicants will be notified by 20th March and a ticket and parking information will be sent out by post.
