A 5-inch Madeiran Gecko was brought to the GSPCA yesterday (24 February), after startling an unpacking islander.
Shelter Manager Steve Byrne says they will try and find him a home.
“The Madeiran Gecko has now been named Maximillion and is in quarantine at the GSPCA.
Like previous reptile arrivals, if healthy then we will look to find it a new home as it is so difficult to get them back to their native lands, which we all know from the challenges with Barnacle Bill who is still waiting for a boat from the Sealife centre in Brighton.”
This is the second non-indigenous species reported to the animal shelter this week after a grey squirrel was caught on camera in St Sampsons.
