More Police Officers On Streets

The police station will be closed to the public over weekends to prioritise having officers on the streets.

Changing office hours mean that more uniformed officers will be patrolling the streets of Guernsey from this Saturday (2 October).

The enquiry office at police headquarters in St Peter Port will only be opening from 7am until 7pm Monday to Friday starting this weekend.

The change is intended to free up officers, who usually have to work on the desk, to work in frontline services.

From Saturday, islanders will not be able to attend the office in person at weekends. Instead, the police can be contacted by telephone at the control centre on 222222 or 725111.

It means things like driving documents and lost property can't be handed in over weekends anymore.

However, anyone who has an arranged appointment to see a police officer can still attend the station.
