We're being invited to ring our own bells or play the sounds of bells through a PA system at 10am Sunday.
We're being invited to 'ring a bell' on Easter Sunday. It follows a call from the Dean of Guernsey, the Very Reverand Tim Barker, to celebrate Easter the best way we can during the lockdown.
Due to the current circumstances all Anglican churches in the Channel Islands are closed and therefore no-one is available to ring the the church bells on Easter Day.
We're being invited to ring our own bells instead at 10am Sunday morning. Services over the Easter weekend will be live streamed by some clergy from home using social media as well.
The Very Reverand has released the following statement:
‘Although, for the time being, we cannot use our wonderful buildings or stream services from within them, congregations and clergy across the Channel Islands are using the internet in really creative ways to stream and record services and we look forward to people “joining” us on Easter Day. Please also ring or broadcast your bells from your homes, drives, gardens and balconies, at 10 am on Easter Day to celebrate this great festival.’
