Plans have been submitted to redevelop Queensway House to create 24 new flats in the centre of town, and bring back a public walkway between Hilgrove Street and Queen Street.
The building was previously home to an arcade of shops including Etam, Lady Jayne Records, Topaz shoes, and the original 101 Toys until the site was redeveloped in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Since then, it has housed the likes of Next, Monsoon and USC.
Two ground floor shops would be kept, with a new public walkway created in the vacant space between them
The new plans, drawn up by Socrates Architects, would see 12 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom flats created on the upper floors of Queensway House.
They would be accessed via the new public arcade created between two shops at street level
