Charity chair takes on sleep out challenge

Tim has previously slept outside different Parish Halls for 12 nights

Sanctuary Trust Chair Tim Ringsdore will be completing 'Tim's Week Without a Home' to raise funds.

Following the success of his 12 Parish Challenge, which saw him sleeping outside a different parish hall each month in 2023, Tim will spend a week sleeping outdoors in St. Aubin.

Tim will continue with his usual routine and work attendance whilst spending the seven nights sleeping outdoors.

He will be sharing meals with Sanctuary Trust residents, offering him the opportunity to connect with the men the charity supports and better understand the challenges they face.

Housing Minister Sam Mézec, Chief of Police Robin Smith and Sanctuary Trust Trustee Martin Rowley will be joining him for some nights of the challenge, and others are also invited.

Tim told Channel 103:

"I was looking for something to raise more awareness; we asked the residents of Sanctuary House and some of the staff and they came up with this idea.

"I'm also going to look at the challenges people face when they're homeless, how do they get the support they need? If they can't come into our charity, then who else can help them? So it's really also trying myself more aware of the challenges people face when they're homeless.

"Really it's an opportunity to raise more awareness about what they most vulnerable on the island face."

The Sleep Out is an annual fundraiser for Sanctuary Trust

In November last year, 120 people spent the night at Pier Road Car Park to raise money for the work of the charity.
