Jersey Hospice Care is hailing its collection of festive firs a 'tree-mendous' success.

Islanders have donated more than £35,000 to have their Christmas tree taken away for recycling.

More than fifty volunteers were involved in pick-ups over four days, with some vans still on the roads making collections this week.

The amount raised is enough to run the charity for two days, but Sacha Patel from Hospice says every little helps:

"The success of Jersey Hospice Care Christmas tree collections has been amazing. We've got a record-breaking amount of donations - smashing the £35,000 mark and having more than 2,130 trees collected."
