Coronavirus: More Schools Affected By Cases

Eight more students and three more staff from ten Jersey schools have tested positive for coronavirus during the latest tests.

They were among 142 cases diagnosed at the weekend.  As of Sunday (13 December) 738 people are known to have the infection.

Mont A L'Abbe school will be closing on Wednesday - two days before the end of term - because of a shortage of staff.

The government says it has been advised of the following:

*A member of staff and a student at Haute Valleé School have tested positive. A year group has been asked to work from home due to a shortage of staff.  Online learning will be available.

*A student at Victoria College has tested positive and is isolating.  Parents of the class bubble were asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A student at Bel Royal School has tested positive and is isolating. Parents of the year group were asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A student at Grainville School has tested positive for Covid-19 and is isolating.  The year group is in school today. Parents of direct contacts have been asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A student at St Martin’s School has tested positive and is isolating. Parents of the year group were asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A student at Mont à l’Abbé School has tested positive and is isolating. Parents have been informed and students and staff from this class will continue to isolate and await further testing. 

The school has been deep cleaned and will open as normal on 14 and 15 December for all other year groups. However due to a shortage of staff the school will be closed from 16 to December to 18 December 2020. 

* A student at Hautlieu School tested positive and is isolating.  As a precautionary measure the contact tracing team have advised that the two year groups, already isolating, continue to isolate at home on Monday, 14 December. 

*A member of staff at Grouville School has tested positive and is isolating.  Parents of two class bubbles, and the after school activity clubs, were contacted and asked to isolate at home, as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A student at Le Rocquier School has tested positive and is isolating.  Parents of the year group were contacted and asked to keep their child at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed. 

*A member of staff and a student at Plat Douet School have tested positive and is isolating.  Parents of the class were contacted and asked to keep their children at home, isolating as a precautionary measure, to allow the track and trace process to be completed.
