DFDS' Stena Vinga begins berthing trials

Islanders can spot the Stena Vinga in St Helier Harbour this week, as she undergoes berthing trials before DFDS takes over Jersey's ferry operations.

The port tests come just a week before the Danish ferry firm replaces Condor Ferries on 28 March, for the next 20 years.

The Stena Vinga, which will operate the passenger and freight route to Portsmouth, will be in Jersey's waters on 18, 19 and 20 March.

Jersey’s Harbour Master, Captain Bill Sadler, says these berthing trials are an essential part of ensuring that the Stena Vinga can dock safely and efficiently in Elizabeth Harbour.

"The trial will also allow the crew to become familiar with the harbour's layout and operations.

"We have been working closely with DFDS to mobilise the new service and I’m looking forward to seeing it in operation."

The Stena Vinga is due into Elizabeth Harbour at around 08:30 am on Tuesday.
