On-demand electric transport firm EVie is now operating an A to B car-sharing service between St. Helier and Jersey airport.
The new service 'EVie Micro' is similar to EVie Bikes, there are designated pick-up and drop-off locations for the cars at the airport and in town.
EVie members will be able to drop off Citroën Ami's in the airport's short-stay car park during the trail period with Ports of Jersey.
Jamie Kelly, CEO of EVie, says the company aims to expand the fleet and Micro car parking zones across the island, covering more popular locations.
"Our new Micro service is an exciting evolution of the existing round-trip EVie car fleet, helping to make journeys more affordable, sustainable and enjoyable for islanders and visitors alike."
The prices for the AMI starts at 25p per minute, meaning a 20 minute drive from town to the airport would cost around £5 and any airport drop-off charges.
It also has small carbon footprint and can be charged with a three-pin plug.
The electric car travels at a top speed of 30mph.
Matt Thomas, Ports of Jersey’s CEO says its 'Ports Planet and People Plan' aligns with the new service, which was created to meet sustainability goals on the island.
"While our primary role is to provide essential connectivity for Islanders, we are aware that the aircraft and ships our business partners and operators use are greenhouse gas polluters. So, we are doing everything we can to help them decarbonise travel."
