Final Few Days Of The Toy Appeal

Generous islanders have been getting involved in the Channel 103 Toy and Gift Appeal.

The radio station has already begun distributing donations to charities in Jersey that work with vulnerable young people.

Barbie dolls, Lego and Squishmallows have been among the donations already dropped at collection points around the island.

Many have already been passed onto groups and organisations that apply to benefit from the appeal on behalf of the families they work with.

Polly Exford works in the children's community nursing team at Family Nursing and Home Care and told us, "it's fantastic to see such an array of different things for all age groups and for children to enjoy.

"A lot of children we work with have medical needs or they are vulnerable.

"To receive a nice surprise gift from somebody is just a lovely thought."

Barnado's is supporting around 50 children and their siblings. Hayley Gilson is a child protection advocate: "We work with a lot of underprivileged children aged 5-18 who don't get much at Christmas-time, so this is fantastic for the island to come together and donate these wonderful gifts."

Toys, jigsaws, books, toiletries, stationery and gift cards can be dropped off until this Friday (15th December) at Channel 103's studios at Britannia Place (just off Bath Street), Ravenscroft at the Weighbridge (next to Pomme D’Or Hotel) or Jacksons near the airport.
