Fire Destroys Historic Dinan Restaurant

Fire has destroyed one of the oldest buildings in the medieval French city of Dinan.

It broke out overnight on Saturday at the popular Chez la Mere Pourcel restaurant in Place des Merciers.

The iconic building dates back to the fifteenth century and is listed as a historical monument.

Crews were called out at 4am on Sunday morning.

Three people were rescued, and one firefighter was injured.

The city's mayor Didier Lechien has called it a considerable loss for the heritage of Dinan.
