Hollywood star Henry Cavill has shared a selfie in St Helier to reveal his next major project, and in doing so promoted a tiny Jersey toy shop to his millions of followers.

The actor has finalised a deal with Games Workshop and Amazon for the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe.

The former Superman and self-confessed Warhammer superfan announced it on Instagram with a photo of himself outside The Little Shop on Conway Street in St Helier.

 He wrote:

"To celebrate some Warhammer news, I decided to make a pilgrimage to the very first place I bought Warhammer models over 30 years ago....the Little Shop, on my home island of Jersey! 

"My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world. Together, we've been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop. That starting place shall, for now, remain a secret. Watch this space, though—more to come in time!"

It will be 'some years' before the before it hits the screens, with Cavill set to star in and executive produce the franchise.

Cavill has some 27.5 million Instagram followers, and 6.5 million Facebook followers, who now know about 'The Little Shop'.

But Janice Barnicoat, who has run the shop for 50 years, had no clue the famous actor had given her store such a huge a global audience until Channel 103 went along to tell her.

"I am highly flattered and I am very proud that he was one of my early customer!

"He used to come in when he was little.  He loved buying figures and doing the paintings.  (He was) very proud of his paintings.

"He came in the shop quite a lot."

 Janice Barnicoat has run The Little Shop for 50 years.

Although Henry didn't pop in on this occasion, Janice is nonetheless excited by the attention.

"Never, 30 million people! Famous at last, after all these years!"
