A member of the public has been thanked, after helping to save the crew from a capsized boat in St Aubin's Bay.

The kite surfer was getting ready to head out to sea when he spotted people getting separated from a Hobie Cat in difficulty early yesterday evening.

He made his way over to the boat and found someone in the water getting tired after being hit in the face by the boat's boom when it turned over.

The good samaritan gave him his board and then swam over to the Hobie Cat.

The St Helier inshore lifeboat was called and the RNLI helped to save the crew members, and boat, taking them safely back to shore.

It was discovered the Hobie Cat had an issue with some of its rigging.

The RNLI has thanked the kite surfer for his help and dropped him off at Bel Royal slipway before heading back to the station.
