Jersey Mums Spend Christmas In Atlantic

Four Jersey mums, who are rowing across the Atlantic, have spent Christmas day in the ocean.

Alison Smithurst, Rosemary Satchwell, Helene Monpetit and Julie Brady - dubbed team Intrepid232 in reference to their combined ages - are hoping to become the oldest female fours to row any ocean.

The quad have sent photos which have been uploaded to their social media page showing them in Christmas-themed glasses and grass skirts under the 'hot sun'

A second round of pictures show them with a bottle of rum donated by local distiller Channel Islands Liquor Company.

But the mums say they won't be drinking it until they reach the finish line in the caribbean island of Antigua.

The team have reached the Kane Fracture, which is one of the deepest parts of the Atlantic.

They have managed to carry on rowing after a change in weather systems reportedly forced others to anchor through.

Intrepid232 are 1700 nautical miles from the finish line.

Channel 103 has been following their progress, and went to meet them before they set off for the Canary Islands last month.
