Man Jailed For Attacks On Woman

A 28 year old man has been jailed for two years by Jersey's Royal Court for assaulting a woman.

Mark John Bartlett has been jailed for 24 months after pleading guilty to two counts of grave and criminal assault.

A complex year-long investigation led to Barlett's arrest in August 2021. He was charged in March 2022.

He admitted the offences just hours before he was due to go on trial last November.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Denis McGee says the victim in this case showed an immense amount of bravery and determination to see this through to the end.

Following the sentencing hearing, he also had a message for anyone suffering domestic abuse:

"We want to assure victims that there are a number of agencies who are in a position to offer them support and guidance.”
