Mild And Very Wet Autumn

Jersey has seen the mildest autumn on record, with temperatures nearly 2°C above average - but it was also remarkably wet.

The average temperature for the season was 15.4°C, well above the 30 year trend of 13.5°C.

A total of 401.4mm of rain fell across September, October and November, making it the 9th wettest autumn on record according to the official weather station at Maison St Louis Observatory in St Helier.

However, the gauge at Howard Davis Farm in Trinity collected enough rain to make it the wettest ever recorded there.

More than half of autumn's rainfall came down last month, making it the second wettest November recorded by Jersey Met.

While measurements at Jersey Airport and Howard Davis Park show it was in fact the wettest ever November.

The wettest day of the month was 1 November, when Storm Ciaran hit the island bringing 32.5mm of rain.

November was also slightly milder than average, with temperatures at 10.9°C. The 30-year average is 10.2°C.
