More Than 36,000 Islanders Given First Vaccine Dose

Nearly 6,000 more Covid vaccine doses were administered in Jersey in the first week of March - taking the total so far to almost 40,000.

36,049 people have received their first dose.

There has been a big jump in the number of 60 to 64-year-olds who got their first dose - going from 53% on Sunday 28 February to 86% on Sunday 7 March.

Two-thirds of 55-59-year-olds have also got their first jab.

Jersey's vaccination doses per 100 in the population is up to 36.58 - one place ahead of the UK on 34.65.

Three more care home residents, another 73 high-risk islanders, 91% of frontline health workers, and 70% of other health staff have got their first vaccine.

Over 80s and frontline health workers have been getting text messages or emails inviting them to get their second dose.

655 over 80s have been second dosed as of 7 March.

The plan for vaccinating under 50s is due to be announced next week.
