'Reuse Mugs' is setting up new mug baskets in Jersey cafés.
The new mug baskets are being introduced so islanders can help to cut down on their consumption of single-use paper takeaway cup.
The idea is simple, islanders will be able to pick up a mug of their choice, takeaway their tea or coffee and then return the mug once they are finished.
Kalina Le Marquand, founder of Potty Eco Pots says if reusable cups are already at cafés, it gives people the option to reach for a recycled mug, rather than a takeaway cup.
"This waste problem that we have in Jersey is huge, we just think that it's one cup or one mug, or you know one thing that we're going to use, and then put it in the bin, but there's an awful lot of people here and how many coffees do people have in a day?"
So far, Rhona's at the Beach and The Lounge are on board but Kalina expects more cafés will get on board.
