Pet owners planning to travel to the EU next year being urged to prepare now for the possibility of a no deal Brexit.
If that happens, those heading to the continent with a cat or dog after 29th March will need to take extra steps within the next two weeks.
That includes making sure the pet is micro-chipped, given a rabies vaccination and blood test.
The animal will also need to see a vet for a health certificate no more than ten days before travel.
The blood test must be done at least 30 days after the initial rabies vaccination and at least 3 months before the date of travel. Islanders planning to travel soon after Brexit are being advised to take action soon.
States Vet Theo Knight-Jones says these requirements might not apply if a Brexit deal is made, but suggests pet owners with travel plans speak to their vet in plenty of time.
Requirements for bringing pets back into Jersey will not change.
