Ports Of Jersey Buys New Workboat

Ports of Jersey has bought a new workboat. The 27-metre long Viking Energy is five years old and currently based in Romania.

The new workboat will be used for commercial work around the UK and EU, managed by its Marine Services Team.

It joins the three existing workboats - the Duke of Normandy, the Duchess, and Elisa - which were used in some of the UK's largest ports in 2023.

Head of Marine Services, Donford Nicholas, says the purchase of the new vessel is an excellent investment.

“I am pleased to see the continuing success of our Marine Services Team, which has developed a new income stream for Ports of Jersey. Our small fleet of workboats will support our investment in Jersey’s future.

As always, any profit from our operating activities off-island is ploughed back into the business, as we continue to develop and invest in services for the benefit of Islanders, visitors, and businesses.”
