Russian Aircraft Banned From Jersey Airspace

Jersey has followed the UK and EU in banning Russian aircraft from its airspace.

An official notice to flight operators - or NOTAM - was issued on Saturday by the Channel Islands' acting Director of Civil Aviation, Inez Bartolo.

The move brings Jersey's sanctions in line with those imposed by the UK, in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine last week.

It means all planes owned, chartered or operated by anyone connected with Russia - or Russian-registered aircraft - are no longer allowed to fly above the island or over its territorial waters.

The States of Guernsey is yet to confirm whether the sanctions will be extended to the other Channel Islands too.
