Second Dose Vaccine Programme Ramps Up

More than 55,000 coronavirus doses have been administered in Jersey, as of Wednesday 24 March.

2,355 second doses were given between Sunday 21 March and Wednesday 24 March, compared to 494 first doses.

The programme to give over 80s and healthcare workers their second jab began earlier this month.

Islanders under the age of 50 are due to be eligible to get their first dose from early next month. No exact date has been provided yet.

More than 30 million people have received a first vaccine dose in the UK.

Two more Covid cases were detected in Jersey over the weekend.

One person who had the virus has recovered.
