Snow And Sun Hit The Channel Islands

Islanders can expect a little sleet and snow for the second week running, turning milder on Friday.

The Channel Islanders will see wintery showers on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (16 and 17 January).

Guernsey had a dusting of snow last week, but Jersey saw the island covered in the white stuff, which urged an orange weather warning.

However, this week's snow will not be on the same scale as last week's.

Jersey Met says we should not anticipate much snow, and the weather is due to northerly winds bringing cooler air to the islands.

Forecaster Joe Waudby says our neighbours will see most of the snow on Tuesday night.

"We are expecting some wintery-ness, with some snow and sleet, but the exact location of the wintery element of the rain is a bit uncertain.

It looks like most of it will actually stay south of us, over France.

It just depends on whether the location of that changes, and it may end up a bit further north, so a low probability at this stage, but we are keeping an eye on it."

Channel Islanders can, however, look forward to milder temperatures from Friday as stronger southerly winds bring warmer air up to Guernsey and Jersey.

Temperatures will climb from average highs of 5°C to 8°C.
