St John's Rd One-Way Trial Delayed Again

Controversial changes to make St John's Road one way have been postponed again.

A three month long trial was due to start on Monday (30 November).

It has already been pushed back from August.

The lower end of the road - between Parade Road and Cheapside  - will become northbound only.

Motorists heading towards town (southbound) will be directed to use Tower Road and Westmount.

The government says the delay is because of 'unforeseen labour issues'  which mean the raised table speed humps won't be in place in time.

We're told Infrastructure department and the Parish of St Helier will work together to agree a new date for the trial, but it won't be until the new year.

"Everyone involved in implementing this trial apologises for the inconvenience that this unexpected delay may cause."

More than 1,000 people signed a petition opposing the trial one-way system.
