Around 100 secondary school students are taking part in challenges designed to open their eyes to a career in Digital.
Five schools are taking part in the event, and more than 30 experts who work in the sector will be on hand to help learn how skills they already have can be put to use after they leave school.
The students from Beaulieu, Hautlieu, Haute Vallée, Jersey College for Girls and Victoria College will participate in challenges designed to give them a taste of technology and digital marketing job roles.
Nicolle Maltwood, who chairs Women in Tech, says she was inspired to follow a digital career path after taking part in the island’s first BIMA Digital Day in 2012:
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to get an insight into digital jobs that they wouldn’t necessarily see or hear about. We are also pleased to have so many technical and digital women at the event demonstrating that digital is for girls too!
“BIMA was an event that I participated in whilst I was still at school which led me to a career in Digital. It is something I would love for other students to be able to experience.”
