Team Jersey Still In Second After Island Games Day 3

Jersey equalled their Day 2 gold tally on the third day of the Island Games in Guernsey and now have a total haul of 18 gold, 17 silver and 16 bronze.

At the mid-way point of the week-long competition, Team Jersey keeps its firm grip on second place in the medals table.

They bagged eight more gold on Tuesday.  

They came in for the table tennis team - making it a special 16th birthday for Hannah Silcock who beat Guernsey alongside sister Kathryn.

In the pool, Megan Hansford topped the podium in the Women's 200 metre Individual Medley bringing home gold.

Isaac Dodds won a third gold in the 400m individual medley and Robert Jones took silver in the 100m butterfly.  There was silver for Tom Deffains in the 400m individual medley and a bronze for Matthew Deffains in the 200m freestyle.

Athletics at Footes Lane brought gold for hurdler Olivia Allbut in the 400 metres and a bronze Will Brown in the men's event, and a bronze for Samuel Maher in the 1,500 metres.

Cyclist Rhys Hidrio got gold in the men's individual mountain bike event, and there was a silver for the mountain bike criterium team and bronze for the men's time trial team.

Both Jersey's football teams are through to the semi-finals.

The men face Isle of Wight and the women are against the Western Isles on Thursday  - both in a 6.30pm kick off.
