150 Guernsey Children Celebrate World Daily Mile Day

Nine of Guernsey's Early Years settings met at the KGV's play fields to celebrate World Daily Mile Day.

Around 150 children walked, ran and skipped around the nearby Dorothy Langlois nature walk yesterday (26 April), before taking part in other fun activities.

The Health Improvement Commission organised the event to promote their goal of getting everyone to regularly do 15 minutes of physical activity.

The Daily Mile is a global initiative that hopes to improve lifelong fitness.

Be Active Lead at the Health Improvement Commission Alun Williams says this is a fun tradition that encourages exercise:

“It is now more than five years since Guernsey schools started doing The Daily Mile. It remains a very important and fun part of many primary schools day.

Given current concerns over health and wellbeing, it has never been more important that schools and the wider community continue to undertake the regular 15 minutes of activity that The Daily Mile brings.
